Acts 1:14 "These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers."
Romans 12:11-12 "not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer"
Thessalonians 1:2 " We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers "
I often read in books how prayer meetings are the backbone of every church. That you can tell how well a church is doing spiritually by looking at the number of people who attend prayer meetings regularly. I get all worked up and tell myself that's so true! Then pat myself on back for agreeing with what I read and turn and do nothing.
That being said, I am blessed at my church with multiple prayer groups during the week. Though I don't always attend them, I am overwhelmingly blessed when I do. I take care of cleaning the building we occupy so consequently I am often there. Each time I decide to go and join in on one of them it is always an enormous blessing! I get to worship Christ for what He has done, as well as bring to Him my sorrows in prayer with others who wish to do the same.
I often have a bad attitude when going in at first. I think to myself, "I really don't feel like it right now" or "I have other things to do". But I always come out being glad I went. I tell myself I have to come back for this every week. Though the spirit is willing the flesh is weak. Oh how I hate the flesh and the laziness I cling to! Through all the trials and blessings, coming to Christ in prayer with others around for a solid 30 -45 mins is truly a magnificent privilege. Thanks to the Lord, we can come to God the Father at any time as OFTEN as we like! Change my heart Lord. Use whatever means necessary to make me thirst for You. Strip me of everything that is not of any use to glorify You.
For those of you who need to constantly be reminded that we need Christ, I encourage you to try attending a prayer meeting during the week at your local church. It will be hard, and you might not want to at first but I promise you if your feeling that way about it, you need it the most.

"Prayer may be hindered by having too much to do. In this age, this is a common occurence. we may have too much business for ourselves... I have never heard of anyone who was burdened with too much praying."
- Charles Spurgeon, The Power of Prayer in a believers life.
